Belief

What we believe is influenced by what we learn as children and our belief systems are based on fact, emotions, and our life experiences. Once our belief system is built we filter all our experiences through our belief system. (Louise l. Hay) Our behavior changes as our belief system changes.

Our faith is also influenced by our belief system, and what we choose to believe can have eternally negative consequences. (John 8:24) Our innate ability to believe in God is written into our hearts; “Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar by not believing the testimony God has given about his Son. (1 John 5:10)

Therefore our core spiritual belief should be in Jesus Christ. When Jesus was about to raise Lazarus from the dead he said to Mary, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.” (John 11:25) Then he raised Lazarus from the dead. (John 11:43-44) Jesus also said, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” (John 4:48). We should believe when the Word of God is proclaimed to us, and not look for signs and wonders. (John 4:41; 6:30)

Almighty God, we humbly ask you to have compassion on us and help us not to seek signs to distract us but faith to guide us. May our belief be strengthened through your word, the Gospel of salvation. We ask you to grant our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
